Do you hold tryouts?
-No, ESFA Cheer is Open Sign ups and open to all. Before signing up, Prospective Cheerleaders and their families need to understand that Cheerleading takes a high level of dedication, hard work, and commitment to their team, as well as a positive attitude. *Please note due to the high interest in our Cheer program, we will only be accepting a limited number of Cheerleaders each season.
What ages do you accept?
-Our Sideline Cheer program is open to Cheerleaders in grades 2-8! Currently, we do not have programs for K-1st.
Can my Cheerleader cheer for my football player? Can my Cheerleaders cheer on the same team?
-Yes, ESFA Cheer has a unique approach to forming squads so that Game Days are easier for Families. Our squads are formed taking many things into consideration. This does result in Mixed Age groups on the same squads.
What is the difference between Sideline and Competition Cheer?
-Sideline Cheerleaders showcase their skills by performing on the sideline of a sporting contest while engaging the fans for crowd involvement and showing encouragement for the players. Competition Cheerleaders Learn routines to perform in front of judges and compete against other cheerleading teams. ESFA Cheer is a Sideline Cheer Organization.
Are Cheerleaders expected to go to all games and practices?
-Yes. Cheerleaders will attend both Home and Away Games. When a squad mate is missing, it puts a strain on the rest of the squad and can impact routines, cheers, and stunts. Cheer squads will be assigned to 1 of our Football teams and will follow their game schedule. This includes rain, heat, and cold.
When does the season start? When are the games? How long is the season?
-Cheer Practices will start at the beginning of August. Games will start the weekend before Labor Day. The games are on Saturdays. Teams are guaranteed 6 games, with up to 2 additional playoff games. The season will conclude by the end of October.
When is practice?
-Cheer will practice 2 days a week, with the opportunity for an optional additional day as needed. Practice will start at 6 pm, with the final schedule decided by the head coach.
Where are games located?
-ESFA is part of the WCYFL. Each town has a home field. Schedules vary each season. Games could be played at any host site: Home (ESHS), Richmond, Oak Grove, Odessa, Warrensburg, Pleasant Hill, Harrisonville, Holden, or Clinton.
Does ESFA provide transportation?
-No. Parents/Guardians are responsible for finding transportation for their players to and from games.
What is included in the Cheer Fees?
-Packages vary each season. At the minimum, cheer fees will include the Full Cheer Uniform including a Top(Shell), Skirt, Briefs(Spandex), Bow, and Poms. A portion of your cheer fee also goes to insurance and misc. league fees.
What else will my Cheerleader need?
-Cheerleaders must also have All White, soft-soled athletic or Cheer Shoes. No Keds, Converse, etc. Practice wear needs to be athletic wear-no jeans. Water Bottle large enough to make it through Practice and games.
Can we reuse a uniform that still fits? Are there any consigned uniforms to purchase to lower the fee?
-No, Our Uniform design changes every year and is yours to keep! ESFA Cheer fees remain lower than many surrounding Cheer programs that do not include uniforms.
